How To Choose Pool Room Furniture

Just like each and every room in one’s house needs its own furnishings, a billiards room also needs furnishings that is related to the sport. The prerequisites are not much but should be selected carefully in order to give the room a nice and cozy look for the players to feel at ease. On the other hand, it should have all the essential furnishings needed for the sport. So let’s see what billiards Game Room Furniture comprises of. Billiard Balls are also very unique in its build.

The initial criterion is the size of the room. It should be big enough to hold the poolboard; at the same time there should be adequate space for the players to move around the poolboard while playing the sport. The room should also accommodate the accessories needed for the sport.

The next significant feature is the ambience of the room. To ensure the look and feel of the room, it should have proper lighting and furnishings. The pool board is made of quarried slate. It is skirted by cushions made of rubber. The upper surface of the pool board is enveloped with a special cloth made of woven wool. A blend of wool/nylon is also employed as covering known as baize. The color of the cloth is always green. The weave is extremelyimportant because it affects the momentum, veering and deflection of the balls.

Next important requirement of the sport are the billiard balls. Billiard balls are very colorful. They add color to the sport. The colors make a distinctive difference against the greenhued billiard board. The shades used are golden, blue, vermilion, wine-red, carrot-color, green and purple. The balls also come in combineddouble shades. The patterns include orange and white, vermilion and white, blue and white, golden and white and purple. The balls that come in single shades are called ‘solids’. The double-colored balls are called ‘stripes’. The balls weigh 5.5 to 6 oz. The ‘solids’ are given numbers 1-7 while the ‘stripes’ are given numbers 9-15. The cue ball is the sixteenth one and it is not numbered. The first contestant uses the white cue ball, while the second contestant uses either the golden or the white dotted cue ball. The later cue ball is marked by a black point.

A curious detail about the billiards matches shown on television is that, for the convenience of the audience, pink and tan colored balls are used instead of the purple colored ball and the coffee-colored colored ball. This is because pink and tan colors are easily distinguished on television. Earlier the balls were made of wood. Then the clay balls came into being. In fact, ivory balls were also used by quite a few players who could afford them. But they have been barred to prevent the killing of elephants. A stand is there to hold the billiard balls. Then there are the ‘cues’ with which the players hit the billiard balls. Contestants use chalks to hold the cues during a game. So after each and every game the cues must be cleaned properly to increase their durability. The use of chalks can be minimized if the players use ‘pool billiard glove’.
