There are many people in the United States as well as the world that suffer from various types of dwarfism. Most of these people prefer to be called or referred to as little people or people of short stature. The world around them is made for people of average stature and often things that are considered simple tasks for someone who is of average height is much more complicated for those that are a lot smaller. One room in the house that often is frustrating for little people is the kitchen. The height of the counters as well as the ovens, cook tops and the microwave typically require the person to have to use a step ladder or to climb up on top of the counters to reach what they need or to cook. This can be very dangerous for that person, particularly when trying to work with hot ovens and stoves. Also a lot of the storage cabinets and medicine cabinets in houses are up too high for a person of small stature so bringing that storage down into drawers would be a lot easier as well. Walk in showers or tubs that have lower sides would all be great choices to think about too.

Furniture can also be changed for little people. Many times having to climb up on a chair and have their legs stick directly out is not very comfortable. So hiring a person to custom make furniture would make the person of small stature that much more comfortable. Some little people say they have actually found some table and chair sets that were originally made for children to be great for a kitchen table for example.
